 		ART OF FREEHAND PINSTRIPING,THE

Dick has been lettering and pinstriping motorcycles, snowmobiles, vehicles, and many other things around the Minneapolis and St. Paul area since 1968. He worked his way up from apprentice to journeyman lettering artist while employed n various sign and display shops, eventually starting his own business. In 1975, he teamed up with a friend and formed Striping Enterprises, Inc. They pinstriped and lettered racecars, motorcycles, Corvettes, Cadillacs, vans, and show cars for five years. Many vehicles in the International Championship Auto Show won awards for their handiwork. During this time Dick Created the Pinstriping Home Study course that they advertised nationally in Street Rod, Chopper, and Truckin' magazines. For five years Dick was the instructor of the advanced sign painting class at the St. Paul Technical/Vocational Institute. He is now back working on his own with his sons Tom, Tim, and Pat helping paint signs. His wife Kathy runs the mail order book selling part of his Bird Sign Company. Dick says: "It takes a lot of practice to make a brush do what you want it to, but a musician starts at the same level as a pinstriper (at the want-to level)." This book is for those 8.5 X 11
